Brief Business History
Import Car Specialists has been servicing auto owners of the Eastside for over 17 years.
In May of 1989, after residing in the Seattle area for two years, Mike opened his own automotive repair shop in Redmond. For the first three years after the shop opened, Mike did everything himself, from repairing cars to ordering parts to book keeping.
A lot has changed in the past decade and a half. Import Car Specialists has expanded three times tripling the original square footage, thus allowing enough space for 3 full-time technicians, six car hoists, a parts room and increased office space to accommodate office staff and waiting area for clients.
In May 2006 Import Car Specialists made its biggest change to date. Moving from their current location of the past 17 years to a newer facility. With the move came a business name change as well. We are now officially "Michael's Import Domestic Specialists."
The new shop is a state of the art facility over 6,500 square feet of immaculate shop space and an inviting reception and waiting area.
Import Car Specialists is Value Star™ certified. Ninety-five percent of customers surveyed by an independent consulting agency gave the shop the highest possible rating and stated they would refer other customers and would also return for future services.
In the Puget Sound Consumer Checkbook magazine (Summer/Fall 2005) Michael's was one of the few shops rated 100% in all 5 categories rated. Michael's has been given nothing but high ratings on Judys Book and the Click and Clack program on Talk Radio.
The priority at Michael's Import Domestic Specialists is to provide personal service and to treat each customer with courtesy and respect. This has been Mike's formula for success over the past 17 years.
Brief Personal History of Owner, Mike Peck
After graduating high school in Southern California, Mike returned to his birthplace in New Zealand to enroll in a very rigorous 5 year automotive apprenticeship program from 1972 to 1979.
Upon completion of the program Mike went back to Southern California where he was employed as an Automotive Technician. As Mike worked during the day as a technician, he concurrently spent his nights building high-performance engines for the purpose of drag racing. Drag racing has become a big part of Mike’s life and he won the NHRA Championship in 1995. Now his entire family is actively involved in racing. His eldest son, Michael was recently crowned Rookie of the Year for 2005 in drag racing NHRA division 6, National Open Champion, and the Northwest High School Champion. Mike's daughter Natalie and younger son Parker have shared their own success in racing as well.
Through much hard work and dedication Mike has achieved the status of Master Technician™ through the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence®. Today Mike is an active member in the community. He sits on the board overseeing actions of the Renton Tech and Lake Washington Voc-Tech automotive programs for local high school students. And Mike has also filled in on Sunday morning KVI 570 Talk Radio to answer your automotive related questions. Mike is passionate about quality service and customer satisfaction.
